It’s been two weeks since the royal wedding and we are still in awe of Meghan Markle’s wedding gowns! Meghan was simply stunning and looked every inch the princess-breathtakingly beautiful! Her first look for the church, was classic, sophisticated non-fuss and quite simple! It was the perfect choice for the royal wedding and ever so elegant! However, for me, the second dress of the day really stole the show! This was a show stopper, again the style was quite simple and oh so elegant. But she looked WOW! No doubt Meghan’ choice in wedding dresses will set the trends for future brides to be for some years. If I was choosing, I would definitely go for dress number two!
However it was not just the bride that turned heads at the royal wedding, the guests of the wedding and wedding party provided plenty of inspiration for those searching for wedding guest outfits! Amal Clooney had to be one of the best-dressed guests that attended the wedding! Amal wore an asymmetrical dress designed by Stella McCartney! Her dress was simply stunning and suited her perfectly. The tailored dress was elegant with a modern twist kept quite simple! Yellow is a definite colour for Spring/Summer weddings, block colour can work really well with a matching headpiece as Amal demonstrated. We love this look available in store now.
There was quite a lot of talk about Kate’s choice of outfit for the royal wedding! For two reasons, the first being she has worn this particular outfit on multiple occasions before but also because of the colour. With all eyes on the royal wedding across the globe, it was quite a surprise that Kate chose to wear an outfit designed by Alexander Mac Queen she has worn on previous outings! Even more surprising was the colour of off-white, this is considered to be an old faux pas that guests to the wedding do not wear white/off-white so as to not upstage the bride. I feel Kate wearing off-white should be a statement to all, it’s perfectly acceptable nowadays to wear white/off-white to a wedding if you are a guest of the wedding/mother of the bride/mother of the groom! All of the above beings said Kate looked fabulous on the day again her look was a tailored one and quite simple! We love the coat dress look, you can steal Kate’s style with this look from designer Sonia Pena in store! This outfit really has the wow factor! This outfit is proving a popular choice with Mothers of the Bride and Mothers of the Groom this season, also available in a beautiful gold hue tone.
It must be said Queen Elizabeth really stood out in the style stakes at the wedding of the year! She wowed us with a happy hue by wearing a flared dress in lime, lemon, purple, and grey floral printed silk topped with a lime silk tweed coat. Again the key trend for Spring/Summer weddings is all about colour! And the brighter the colour the better as could be seen by Queen Elizabeth’s outfit! We have gorgeous block colour outfits in store with coats to match, such as this style from Sonia Pena!
Another head-turning guest at the royal wedding was undoubtedly the mother of the bride Meghan’s mum! Mother of the bride Doira, opted for a pistachio green outfit designed by Oscar De La Renta. Doira’s choice of outfit was also bright, bold and eye-catching! It seems green was the colour of choice! The mother of the bride’s two-piece outfit was very elegant with a long coat over her dress with embroidered detail. Similar to this stunning outfit from Carla Ruiz in store now! Again the mother of the bride chose a matching fascinator as oppose to a contrasting colour, depending on the outfit sometimes a matching headpiece can blend too much and look almost bland. Not in this case, but you don’t always have to choose an exact matching headpiece! A contrasting colour in headpiece can often really set an outfit off!
A special mention must also go to Camilla Parker Bowles, the stepmother of the groom. Camila’s outfit choice was a classic one with beautiful frayed detail on the coat. The rose-tone pink suited her skin tone perfectly. Rose pink tends to be a very popular choice with our customers attending Spring/Summer weddings! The rose pink shade suits Irish women’s skin tone beautifully and is often very complementing. You can emulate Camilla’s look with this style from Linea Raffaelli, we also have similar styles from designers Luis Civit and Sonia Pena
Pippa Middleton also turned heads in a more contemporary choice of outfit! Pippa also chose a shade of green, opting for a mint green dress with rose pink pleats and floral print! Pippas outfit was from London based The Fold. The perfect choice for a guest of the wedding, which no doubt will provide inspiration for those looking for the guest of the wedding outfits! You can achieve a similar look with this floral design from Fee G
James Corden’s wife Julia Carey also stunned on the day! We loved her choice of rose pink dress with flared sleeve, adding an extra edge to this classic pencil style dress! If you are a guest of the wedding, you can get a very similar look with this style from Moncho Heredia!
Another head turner was Priyanka Chopra! I loved this look, a power look! Tailored sophisticated but the look of a confident woman. Chopra wore an outfit designed by Vivienne Westwood. Carla Ruiz has very similar designs this season which are in store, I’d recommend this look for any Mother of the Bride or Mother of the Groom to be looking for something a little bit different to the classic Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom outfits!
Another outfit I loved on the day was worn by Serena Williams. Serena looked glorious in a dusty pink dress from Versace! The ruche detail suited her figure perfectly. Ispirato do this style particularly well, the ruch detail is ultra flattering you can definitely achieve Serena’s look with designs from Ispirato such as the below
